How to Use ChatGPT in Any Language

The short answer: ChatGPT understands many languages, but its answers are usually strongest in English. The best setup: write prompts in your language, send them in English, and read the English answers translated back. Swift Translate (free) does both live, inside the ChatGPT app, with a floating bubble.

Why not just chat with ChatGPT in your language?

You can — and for many languages it works well. But there are two common problems:

  1. Quality. For less common languages, answers in English are noticeably better, more detailed, and more accurate.
  2. Content. Many prompts, characters, and examples you find online are written in English. Using them means chatting in English.

Translating the conversation on screen gives you English-level answers without needing English.

Reading answers in your language

  1. Install Swift Translate and turn the translator on.
  2. Open ChatGPT and ask something.
  3. Drag the floating bubble over the answer — it translates in place. For long answers, use area scan to select the whole reply.

Writing prompts in your language

  1. Tap the message box.
  2. Drag the bubble onto it.
  3. Type your prompt in your language — it is sent in English.

It works in every AI app

The same method works in Gemini, Copilot, character and roleplay apps, and AI features inside other apps. AI chat is the fastest-growing use of Swift Translate — the bubble does not care which app is under it.
