How to Translate Instagram DMs and Comments

The short answer: Instagram’s “See translation” appears only on some content and is missing from many DMs. To translate everything, install Swift Translate (free) and drag its floating bubble over any DM, comment, caption, or bio — the translation appears in place, and you can reply in your own language.

Translate any DM

  1. Install Swift Translate and turn the translator on.
  2. Open the Instagram conversation.
  3. Drag the bubble over the message. Done — it reads in your language.

Chat Mode can translate the whole conversation and remember the language per contact, so regular conversations need no setup after the first time.

Reply without copy-paste

  1. Tap the message box in the DM.
  2. Drag the bubble onto it.
  3. Type in your language, send in theirs.

Comments, captions, and bios

Everything on Instagram translates the same way — drag the bubble over it:

Why not screenshot and use Google Lens?

It works, but it is slow: screenshot, open Lens, wait, read, go back. In a conversation you would do that for every message. A screen translator turns the same job into one drag.
